Built in 1929, and Grade II Listed, Dolbelidr works on many levels. Whether you are a small group of friends or a large extended family, this hidden gem wraps you into its embrace. Although aristocratic and elegant, it is at the same time cosy and comfortable. Every piece of furniture and art has been lovingly chosen with care……each complementing and blending in harmony with the other. Family photographs and memorabilia add to the charm – you almost feel that you are part of the family!
Downstairs is the formal Drawing Room with wooden floors and antique kilims. Four picture windows and French windows flood the room with light. The squashy sofas and armchairs immediately make you feel at home and the fire will be ready for you to light with a single match. The large bay window has a handy table where you can enjoy a cuppa whilst looking across the gardens. There is a study/TV room and a further snug which allows everybody to find their own space, whether they need to work or just escape with a book - you can enjoy reading Country Life magazines from a bygone era.
There is a more "traditional" Dining Room with mahogany table and seating for 10, but the "hub of the house" is the fabulous, contemporary farmhouse Kitchen where the original sage green units have been matched with more contemporary ones. You will have everything that you need to make cooking a joy – there are two ovens – one a Belling with 5 ceramic hobs plus a second one with 4 ceramic hobs.
Slate steps lead down to the conservatory which has been lovingly restored. You will spend much of your time here. Windows run the length of the room and a large skylight fills the room with light. The handmade refectory table sits up to 10 guests and French windows lead onto the gardens. There are a couple of comfy armchairs where you can have an afternoon snooze.
The spectacular entrance hall leads upstairs to the five bedrooms – each one individually designed and all having original tiled fireplaces. No fighting for the views as they all have them.
Bedroom One has a super-king bed with zip and lock mattress that converts into two singles: Bedroom Two has a king size bed with zip and lock mattress that converts into two singles. Bedroom Three has a king size bed, whereas Bedrooms Four and Five have double beds. All these rooms have pretty occasional antique furniture, free standing wardrobes, chests of drawers and bedside tables. Crisp white bedding contrasts with the wooden furniture and pretty bedspreads and cosy blankets add to the charm. There are a couple of handy downstairs loos.
There are four bathrooms – although none are actually en-suite, all are handy to use. Three have cast iron baths with shower over, sink and loo, whereas one has a modern walk-in shower, sink and loo. You will feel very spoilt with fluffy white towels and Welsh toiletries. There are a couple of handy downstairs loos.
We offer all mod cons including good wifi.
But, the stars of the show have to be the location…..and the gardens…..and the views.....and the privacy and seclusion. To the rear of the house are extensive lawned areas and orchards busting with fruit trees - help yourself to a ripe apple! You will feel that you have the whole of this glorious region to yourselves and will feel very peaceful with the only sound being that of birdsong. The scent of roses in full bloom in the summer is intoxicating.
The large south-facing terrace with a pretty blue painted refectory table and seating for ten is perfect for al-fresco dining or early evening drinks….There can’t be a nicer place in North Wales from which to enjoy the sunset.
